RYLA Breakfast 30th July 2024 - Fisher House 7.00 - 8.30am
Our club has sponsored 7 young people who completed the course early July. On Tuesday July 30th at a special Rotary breakfast meeting, we will have some of these young leaders tell us about their experience. It is the most amazing programme and something your organization may like to consider as part of your leadership training for next year.

Details of the programme is at:  https://ryla.co.nz/

We would love to see you there if you are a local employer, HR  or training manager, or even some one interested in taking part. The course is open  21 - 28 year olds sponsored by a local club.

If you have a young person in your company who could be a leader this maybe a chance for them and your organisation.

The breakfast is free but we have limited spaces. Please register by emailing us below and we will confirm:

Highbrook Rotary - Club Stories
Mary Ann has been feeling a certain bit of empathy with her girls at Wiri, even suggesting that they get off lightly compared with the lock down at Summerset.
This did not stop a transfer of goods to Middlemore in the middle of the day with guards watching. Well done Mary Ann!!

This was the hand over this morning to Sandra Geange CEO of M/m Foundation on the roadside outside Summerset's gate...
Blankets , Wriggle mats and 6 bags of hand knitted toddlers clothes from the knitting club here. - Mary Ann

Dear Members

On behalf of South Auckland Family Refuge and the women and children who use our services, we would like to thank you for your monetary donation of $2,500.00 donated to our Refuge on the 14 April 2020.

We are overwhelmed by the generosity of people such as you who respond so magnificently to the needs of women and their children affected by family violence.

We would not be able to continue this much needed service without the support from the community.

Thank you once again

Kind Regards   Maria Peleti

Red Cross

Red Cross obviously made the right decision to not go ahead with our Street Appeal in March, but it did mean that we were unable to fundraise.
That’s why donations like this make such a difference – especially now more than ever.

Your donation goes to help fund the work we have been continuing to do throughout lockdown.
Deemed as essential services, our Meals on Meals service has been delivering around 11,000 meals a week, whilst our Migration programme has been providing regular check-ins with more than 350 former refugee families across Aotearoa.
We have also translated the Ministry of Health's COVID-19 messaging into 15 different languages.

Our Disaster Welfare Support Teams have been working in their communities, delivering medical supplies from pharmacies to vulnerable people.
Other actions of help include assisting helping health professionals at community-based assessment centres, sharing safety messages and providing resources to support emotional & social wellbeing.
Whilst our Restoring Family Links service has been helping connect people internationally who have lost contact with family members due to COVID-19.

RED ( Rotarians Experiencing Distress)

Thank you so much for this, I think that's a great idea to redirect the money like that, we are very grateful.

Emergency Response Kits ( ERK's)

Thank you Ravinder – your donation to Rotary NZ World Community Service for 3 x ERKs will be very much appreciated.

Cyclone Harold has caused significant loss in the greater Pacific Islands recently and ERKs have been distributed in Vanuatu, Fiji, Samoa and the Cook Islands. As we have positioned ERK stock in several Island locations, people most effected by the cyclone were receiving ERKs soon after the cyclone had passed. The smiling faces of the Islanders tell the story. We know that ERK donation monies are well spent.

Mary Ann France has recently represented the Club at a couple of prizegiving events for the Reading Enrichment Programme run by the Rotary Club of Penrose. The Club were gifted a large number books by the stationary supplies company ACCO who helped out with last years Fun Run and were keen to dispose of some surplus stock to a good cause. Peter Vale saw the opportunity and Mary Ann knew the channels.
Mary Ann reported:

" Each award recipient received one of “Peters journals” together with a Dictionary from RC Newmarket -a special badge & books from Scholastic. Each student had to stand at the microphone-read a short speech of thanks to the Vols. tutors and sponsors. As one of the donors I presented about 6 students with their bundles of goodies. The students were excellent-spoke beautifully and all mentioned the confidence they had gained in reading and speaking."

The Reading Enrichment Programme is a literacy mentoring initiative started by the Rotary Club of Penrose and is run through several local schools. For more information on the programme click here
